David is the founder of Tahoe STEM Academy. He creates and teaches our robotics, engineering, digital fabrication, and electronics curriculum.

Born and raised in South Lake Tahoe, David Wise is a proud graduate and the valedictorian of South Tahoe High School. He received his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical and Ocean Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2014. During his time at MIT, David built robots for the Marine Robotics Team, designed and fabricated components for race cars through Formula SAE, and served as a mentor and tutor for engineering students. He also worked extensively with the MIT Edgerton Center to bring STEM education to local families and children in rural communities. After college, David worked as an engineer building deep sea submersible robots in San Francisco. Motivated by his love of the outdoors and his desire to bring hands-on science and engineering opportunities back to his community. He returned to his hometown in 2016 and is the cofounder and director of Tahoe STEM Camp, providing hands-on science training organized through the local community college. David spends his spare time skiing, mountain biking, and making cool things.
